A previous week of photography had happened on DA in April 2012, thanks to StamatisGR :)

This time, this week, as your servant, I will try to give you have a insightful trip into this great emotional side of photography with some humor and passion added in as well.
We are happy to have you on board for this very special trip into this side of photography, linked to humanity and to the very intimate relationship between people and their environment.

“My photography is a reflection, which comes to life in action and leads to meditation. Spontaneity – the suspended moment – intervenes during action, in the viewfinder.” – Abbas

People. Situations. Moments. Decisiveness. Humor. Observations. Spontaneity.

But that's not all! Street photography has greatly evolved since the birth of the genre in the 20th century.

It is not at all an elitist part of the photography community in general.

Many questions can be raised about Street Photography:

  • What are the laws about shooting in the street, depending on your country?
  • What gear should you use?
  • What are the legacies, testimonies and works achieved or given by masters of the genre?
  • Who are the street photographers on DA?
  • Is street photography difficult to achieve?
  • What could be the tricks to improve street shots?
  • Does anyone ever feel comfortable shooting unknown people?

Many questions and more to which we will try to bring at least some great thoughts and hopefully: to give to anyone over here the envy and taste to improve his/her own technique, or even start doing great street photography.
A bunch of good artists and mates have participated so that you can read their inputs:

We are glad to celebrate the very simple and deep definition of this fascinating side of photography:
“Street Photography is about people in context, in candid, unposed, and unstaged situations in public places, with no or minimum post-processing.”

But let's talk also about the fun associated to street photography: Take part in our Street Photo Contest!

We'll encourage you through this week to participate in this contest:

Take a street photograph. Don't constrain yourself. Use your interpretation of the definition of Street Photography and submit your best shot. Care about your feeling, your mood, your humour. Don't forget quality.

Street Photography is all about the unadulterated moment.
Try to make photos that appeal to the intellect and the emotions, that report without intruding. Photos that tell a story and draw the viewer in.

Please, to participate: your shot will have to be new and taken from June at least (submitted to DA recently),
Make the mention it is for this contest below your shot,
And make a comment with a link to your deviation in the comment section below to be sure your entry is counted!

The winner will receive a 3 month premium membership or equivalent in points!  A runner-up will be selected and receive 600 points!

Remember...

“Emotion or feeling is really the only thing about pictures I find interesting. Beyond that is is just a trick.” – Christopher Anderson

Let's rock!
